Of the many great reviews this album got these 2 sum it up the best :-
- Minimalism. Sounds nasty. It is. But I revel in the knowlege that Hope & podmore, in their pursuit of consumerist destruction have got it right. Cutlery, washing machines & other household objects mirror in their cacophony the imminent decline of the home as a haven of security, filling "Kitchenette" with more fear, disorder & panic than most records achieve in a lifetime. The ultimate irony is that even at their most disruptive, these songs are all easy to listen to, achieving their disorientation not through tunelessness or noise but through the sound of everything you value collapsing about you.
(Melody Maker)
When you used to be the out-grimacing lead gurner of The Box, a manic spirit from sheffield and a man with an intense haircut, it's not easy to carry on and be normal. No worry, for Peter Hope isn't normal. Dry Hip rotation is one ofthe most inexplicably uncommercial platters I've ever heard. I've been lambasted for enthusing over some odd things in my time, and this even made me check my stylus. Not that the quality of the sound is questionable, it's just that Hope & his reading of the genre are structured so provocatively. Weird & supremely wonderful. This is an exquisite work that suggests the man may soon have his own talk show on pirate TV. Any backers? (Dave Henderson, The Catalogue)
